Description

The Mood sea basin (Mare Humorum) and the interesting closed plain Gassendi (110 km) reminiscent of the shape of a ring adorned with a precious stone are among the most striking elements of the southwest quadrant of the visible face of the moon.

The Gassendi arena includes a group of central mountains and a system of complex grooves (Rimae Gassendi).

To the south the enclosure drops below 200 m, to the east and west it rises to 2500 m above the ground.

To the north the enclosure is cut by the crater Gassendi A (33 km).

I indicated on the version annotated by a red arrow a small crater of 1 km, but others in this image are the same size.

This dimension is significant to me because it corresponds to the theoretical resolution of my C8 which is 0.59 second arc.

Good observation conditions and an ideal lunar phase (3 days after the first quarter) probably allowed this result.
